    Default Shotgun gauge measurment

Gauge measurement in shotguns is the number of round lead balls of bore diameter that equal one pound.
( 12 Gauge is the diameter of one lead ball that weighs 1/12 lb)

A 1/12 pound round ball would pack a punch on both ends

I've been around guns all my life and I didn't know that. You can learn something new everyday.

I have been to a shop in Ohio that had a 4 guage side by side that was Prussian made. 36 in barrels and weighed 27lbs. Now I understand why the gentry had Gun Boys. Shoulder hurts just thinking about it. Good info. 20 years of chasing clays and I never heard that.
