Default question about finish of baits

I'm new to soft plastic been going good so far. Run into a problem with the finish on a new mold today. My question is what can I do to make it shine. Was thinking a light coat of worn oil before the shot but wanted to check with the expert's first. Thanks in advance.

Just curious, what mold is it....who makes it? Baits that seem dull are deceptive in that when they are in the water being fished the shine you want means zippo. You could always do body dip in clear plastic to shine it up but you'll also bulk up the bait. Worm oil in a bag will gloss them up some but really there's nothing that shine does as far as catching fish.

It's a do - it finesse crawler. All my small molds come out shiny this is the first big bait I have used.i know it will look better I've seen samples of it before I got it. The fish probably won't mind I just wanted to do the best job I can do.

That is an Essential mold. Its not a cut mold like cnc molds are, this is sand cast and has a textured finish. The baits from these molds are not going to have that slick surface. Field testing those Essential baits with the textured skin right next to cnc mold worms has shown absolutely no difference in the catch rates of the baits from sand cast molds. You're not doing anything wrong, its the sand texturing of the mold that is creating a bait with a matte finish. The baits work great, go fishing!
