Guntersville is my home lake. There are others as well.
Am I don't something wrong? Or are all the crappie fishermen from other areas?
I got out with my crappie partner yesterday (1/30/15) and fished our regular area around North Sauty. It wasn't too cold but the wind was really blowing pretty good out of the SW. We found some fish, but they were stubborn. Using the ultra lite, we threw 1/16 jigs with Garland Baby Shad in Watermelon Wine and Monkey Milk. We caught 9 real nice slabs in 10-12ft.
Unfortunately it was one of those days where the fish weren't suspended over the deeper water, but hanging on the rip-rap rock going up toward the bank. The guys on the bank were having better luck and we didn't interfere with their casting area. Those guys were casting out to about 14' depth where the rip-rap starts and worked their jig back up, staying close to the rocks. They had some pretty good baskets of crappie.

Do you fish Chotard or Eagle? I fished them about 30 years ago and wondered if they were still producing.
