The most I use for jigs is Hi-vis mono. Casting braid comes with it's issues but will cast a light lure, or any lure, farther than any other line. And it floats. Worth a try but it would be best if the first time was on a calm day.

Which type of line do you prefer when casting lures for crappies??

I mainly use Trilene XL clear - doesn't really fall into the above.

I'm sold on braid with a fluorocarbon leader. I use spinning reels exclusively. As far as casting issues, early on I discovered how easily braid will twist and this starts as soon as you spool it. This issue is overcome by spooling, then dragging line behind the boat to completly empty the spool then rewind on spool while line is free and wet. Sometimes it is amazing to see how much twist is in that last 50 feet of line.
Part of the reason I use a leader is I use a high quality barrel swivel between the braid and leader which after starting this practice has eliminated all of my issues with braid.
Even my slip bobber rigging gets a swivel. Bobber is on the braid and with the swivel, lost bobbers are a thing of the past. Finding a good bobber stop is a bit trickier because braid is slick. I have found that a little beeswax on the string for the bobber stop provides enough extra power to reduce the slipping
I use Trilene XL 6lb. clear mono or Sufix 6lb mono in a bright color. I use spinning reels and ultralight 5'6" rods.
I use Trilene XL clear or Bass Pro Excel clear.
High vis mono
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
