Default Splicing line what knot to use?

    Hi,

Old timer here, eyes aren't as good as they used to be! Have a spinning reel that holds wayyyyy to much line. What knot do you suggest for splicing mono to mono in a 6# test?

Thanks in advance for our help.

I have found a double uni knot easier to tie for all my line to line knots with good success.

If your knot is unlikely to ever see the light of day, I don't think it much matters which knot you use.

Personally I put both tag ends together (side by side) and make a loop ... then put both tags through that loop twice and cinch it down "snug" ... then tie an overhand (granny) knot with the two tag ends ... wet the whole arraignment and cinch it down "tight". Never been spooled back to the knot, but test pulls have shown that this knot will hold. I've even used this to tie mono to braid.

Another vote for the blood knot.

this is the only I use for two line connection, blood knot and the nail knot are very good but the alberto knot is faster for me

I use the Alberto knot on my saltwater rigs joining braid to a heavier mono leader (Sheepshead fishing). It is one of the easiest knots to tie. I use the Uni knot on my mono to hooks. jigs, plugs, etc. so it is easy for me to use back to back uni knots to join mono to mono. The blood knot is an excellent knot, I just find the Alberto easier to tie.
Like others said, for pan fish when you just want some filler line on the spool, it is unlikely the knot will ever come into play so it is not nearly as important as the line to leader knot.
