    Smile GPS?'s

Hey guys, I was looking for a post that had gave alot of general info on gps's. I had read it about a month ago and today I purchaced one. I plugged in gps in the search tool and nothing showed up. Can someone help me locate that link?

Also I purchaced a South Nav hot spot Chip, I guess I did not research this enough before I purchaced the unit which is a Ifinder H20, the chip and unit are compatable, what I was wanting to do was view the info off the chip to my PC. What else do I need to purchace to fix this problem.

    Thanks any help

    Marc

You'll need a "card reader", and "Mapcreate 6".
I think "Mapcreate 6.2" is out now.
All found on the Lowrance website.

Thanks guys for the help, it looks like I need either the map create which I need to find out if it is compatable with the Nav south chip, looked like the map create was a little cheaper than the Nav Planner.

    Thanks for the help

Marc, I tried to do the same search and got the same results as you. That is very odd. The only other thing I can think of to find the thread you're looking for and just start going back into older pages till you find it.

    Default I have both

I have the map create program I use on my computer and download to the cards for my GPS. I also have the Navonics Hot spots premimum for detail on contours and it's much better than the map create for this. If there is a way to view the Navonics card's map on the computer, then I also need help. I have only been able to view it on my GPS.

I use Map Create and a Fishing hot spots elite card. Here is how I can view it on my computer.
    1. Put a Map create cd in drive, do not open.
    2. Put card in reader then double click on file. You should get a popup asking if you want to load files. Click "load maps".
    3. Map create will now open with the maps from the card.
    4. If you have your waypoints on the card you can load them too by going to
File - Open - Open GPS data file
    5. At this point you can view and edit your waypoints. When done save to the card and its a good idea to save the data file to another folder on your computer for a backup.

    Hope that helps.

I have the H20 Map create and fishing hot spots elite the problem I have is the h20 does not show the detail of the contours. Grandpa has the same chip and his shows it all however he has a fancy Humminbird GPS/finder.
