If you still find them under the boat docks you can hold the jig in your hand pulling back on the line bending the rod and when you let go it will shoot under the dock. Then you can let it fall or swim it back slow, but you must become a line watcher and any tick movement you see set the hook. It's called shooting docks and would be better if you see it in a DVD like Ernest Paty's video.

There may well be others with the same info, but this one I have seen and own.

    Hope this helps,

    Skip thanks for your response
I have 2 nice crappie poles. One 12’ the other 10’ and a bunch of spinning and casting rods and reels. Can you shoot docks with the crappie poles or do you have to use something else? I thought this would be a good time to fish docks am I wrong and if I am when is?

On the pole thing, you are going to need a sorter one for the technique and probably about 5' or 6' long or so for me.

Crappiepappy had not read your post about dock shooting before, nice job!

Here is Ernest's his web page...

I saw a demonstration by Wally Marshall at Bass Pro who was promoting his rod that he shoots docks with. It was a very limber rod and I think about 6ft or maybe 61/2 ft. He made it look easy but I can see the hook going into my finger and out the other side..
