    Default Winter crappie

This will be my first honest attempt at winter crappie fishing. I will mostly fish Jacomo because it is so close. What are the best color patterns for crappie at this time. Also, what size jig. I have made some as small as 1/100

winter is my favorite become really clear. i use mainly white or "pearl" in those conditions, the white/blue thing works good also. if your going under docks or anything i use purple or dark red. that's just me though and many others on this board have more talent and experience. i still think color selection is mainly important for personal confidence, but again, that's just me. good luck and stay warm.

It seems to me that i have done well with char, blue, black and reds in the winter but i fish alot of dark water around condo docks when it gets too cold to take the boat out, other colors will work better on certain days it is just like any other time of year water clarity and cloud cover or sunny skies will tell you what to try.I always use 1/16 or 1/8 jigs and do well with them i think that they want a big jig when the water gets as cold as it is going to get so they get a big meal without having to exert much energy chasing it,i just drop the jig down to the brush or bottom and fish it real slow on the way up and they just cant resist it.
