    Default Blue Catfish Electrofishing Video

Here's a short video showing blue catfish sampling using electrofishing at El Dorado Reservoir. The El Dorado blues have progressed nicely since their initial stocking in 2004. Blue catfish are a slow growing fish in Kansas so it can take a long time for populations to establish and for individuals to become large.

Craig, do you think the states stocking efforts helped contribute to these monster catfish?

Craig, that is one great video. I cant believe how many fish you had floating. How far away will that electric shock bring fish up. and how does someone sign up to be a volunteer on one of those electrofishing expeditions, that would be a great experience, thanks

    crappiedoc,

Hard to say whether these huge fish were the direct result of stocking efforts...but reservoirs with populations of blues certainly add to river blue cat densities during times of high flow through.

    dlsloan,

We commonly see blues come up anywhere from right at the boat out to 80+ yards.

If you are interested in volunteering, get a hold of your local fish bio and see if they have any need for additional help.
