    Default Smithville Slaying 6/20

My buddy Kyle and I hit up Smithville yesterday with intentions on catching anything that was biting. Turned out the crappie favored us. We ended up going underneath one of the bridge pillars close to one of the marinas. Ended up finding a crappie bed. Jigging minnows in 28' fow about 15 to 20ft down. They were hitting most of them on the drop so half the time you didn't even realize you had one on until you pulled up a little on the rod. Pulling them in left and right. Between the both of us over about 100+ with 8 keepers for me and my buddy lemoning out @ 15 finishing off with an 11" slab. Great day of fishing.

So you were under the bridge by camp branch and crows creek?
A buddy and I almost stopped there today. We fished all over the lake. Main lake brush piles. East of that bridge. Sail boat cove. Next cove north of sailboat. W bridge and only ended up with 4 keepers

Lemoned out huh someone's phone auto corrected!

Maybe its time to drag the boat out there and get some minnows. What time frame were they hitting?

You're welcome. Last time I worked on the fish habitat team (spring of 2013) I convinced them to put a nice big tree right on the south pillar of that CB bridge. It's a snag factory, but no doubt the fish LOVE it.

    Congrats!!!
