    Default Boat Batteries

I'm sure this has probably been discussed before, but have a question.
My boat has 3 batteries that need replacing. Would new car batteries
work? How much difference in price for marine batteries, and would
you even consider installing car batteries.

ive had good luck with car battries as long as they'r just pull'n electronics (sonar, lights gps ect) but for tour trolling motor you'd be better off with deep cycle marine
My wife swears I only do enough surveying to support my hunting & fishing because I'm too busy hunting & fishing !

car batteries wont handle the discharge/recharge, thus wont last. Price wise you are in the $100 ball park for deep cycle and up past 250 for the agms

I'll be using batteries mainly for cranking engine and running depth finder. Very little
if any use on the tolling motor. I longline and use a 3.5 mtr. along side my 150 for
trolling. Don't really know what the 3rd battery operates.

Automotive batteries are not built to take the abuse of pounding on the water and up and down the road on a trailer. Just spend the money for a marine battery that will pay for it's self over time. You have 3 batteries probably 1 for cranking and 2 for 24 volt trolling motor. If not using trolling motor just get a Walmart group 27 marine for cranking and leave the other 2 alone.

If two of those batteries operate the trolling mtr alone, it just
makes sense that I use only one (the marine). I suppose Walmart
is as good as the others.

Ditto what cray says considering your use. Can't see justifying the cost in your case going to AGM or golf cart batteries.
