has anyone ever had any luck off the MO river..I know a spot in a back water slew where there is no current and there is dead-falls everywhere you would think it would be a crappie paradise!

It was up over the weekend and muddy everything up.
We used to catch a lot of crappie in the chutes on the Mississippi back home. Haven't seen a lot on the Missouri in the KC area.

Have a cousin that was an MDC agent and he told me the Mo river backwaters had some great crappie fishing. Sloughs are generally good with tons of lay downs. We used to do a lot of crappie fishing on the Mississippi sloughs and always caught crappie and an occasional bass. Usually need a boat to fish those areas.
three's crappies in the backwaters. some dandies, too. trick is finding them because they move so much with the river rising and falling. bright colored jigs tipped with minnows and keep moving around till ya find a pattern. your not gonna catch big numbers but what you do catch will be nice ones.
