Great picture. Pretty amazing.
Yesterday while fishing at Little Creek Reservoir in Toano, VA, a waterspout missed my boat
by only a few feet. Fortunately, my camera was handy and I got these pictures.

Very cool, never seen that before.
Very strange because the lake doesn't even look that windy
This section of the lake had barely a ripple when the 'spout came roaring through the trees and touched down on the water. It whipped up all the waves you see in the pictures.
WOW!! Simply awesome photos. Love the rainbow in the pictures as well. Really glad you got the pictures and that it missed you.
I've seen those before, not on the water but on construction sites, most of them been up that way They call them wind devils, kind of like mini tornados. Weather guy told me they occur a lot on in that area because of the warm west winds coming across the Piedmont then the wind hits the James which is still cold this time of the year. I worked a job near Ft Eustis back in the 80's one would come through every couple of days, one was strong enough to blow my wheel barrow over and send cylinder molds flying through the trees. Those are some neat pics of one!
Seen them on the Ocean before but never one like that. Really cool pictures. Glad it didn't get you.

Very cool pic's! I don't believe I have see one that size...
I've seen too many- much larger water spouts, last yr I had 3 at one time moving towards me while fishing on the bay. Saw 4 in total that day.
also heard them called water devils, dust devils on land.
