    Default Black Crappie

I caught a lot of big black crappie at LOZ this weekend.
I only kept 3 for dinner.
When I cleaned them, they were full of eggs and they looked close to being ready to spawn.

Question: Do Black Crappie spawn earlier than White Crappie?

The ones we caught were the same way. Their eggs were alot bigger than the white crappie. I think they do spawn earlier than the whites they seem to go shallow first too. We caught fish in 6' of water and the temp was 51.

The spawn gets started when water temps and day length are in a certain range, then runs for 2-3 weeks. Some whites will spawn at the start, as will some blacks.

I know there wasn't any blood in the eggs of 2 of the fish and very little in the other one.
