have any of you tried the 6'6 or the 7' ultra light or light rod for casting light jigs?.. got a shimano sahara 1000 for Christmas and and would like to match with a light good action rod for throwing 4 lb test a small pear bobber and fish stalker slab tail on a 1/32 head for the upcoming shallow bite

I really like the Shimano Sahara 1000! I have three of them on 5'6" Wally Marshall Signature Series rods. Some have told me the Sahara is overkill for crappie, but I really enjoy the smoothness of the Sahara and I have had great service out of Shimano reels. I use them for casting & shooting w/4# Wally Marshall Hi-Vis line. The 5'-6" does a great job, but like you I am wanting to try the 6'6". I feel it may give a little more casting distance. I plan on purchasing one before spring myself. That should make a really nice set-up.

ive always used the sahara 2500 an the 4000 for bass and the solstice 1000's for crappie but after getting this sahara 1000 .. Imma run just sahara and give solstice to my wife
