    let say fish holding 8 to 10 feet in 20 fow you are using 1/16 jig moving .8 mph how do you judge how much line to put out? Is there a formula yall use or is it just trial and error. trying to get the hang of it. thanks.

    troll around in ten feet of water and let out line until you feel your jig hit bottom. mark the line and measure. if your using to heavy of line it may never reach ten feet.

    if I am trolling I usually prefer crank baits because they are made to run at certain depths. takes away some of the guess work.
