Sounds like a good outfit for when she’s a little older. I like to start kids out with a cane pole or a telescopic pole, though – MUCH easier for the kid to handle, IMO.
My two year old great niece Nala has two rods and reels at present.
A 6 to 12 lb Ugly Stik Casting rod with a Zebco Omega Z02 reel. A 8 to 20 lb Ugly Stik casting rod with a Zebco Omega Z03 reel. My logic was a good rod and reel would make the experience better for her -- no lost fish.
Nala has a Mickey Mouse folding chair. Her Mickey Mouse tackle box has Mickey Mouse bobbers in it, and she has a Mickey Mouse baseball cap. I thought that having her own tackle and accessories would make the outtings fun and keep her attention.
Nala can't wait til she is old enough to go fishing with her Auntie! [At least she likes holding her rod!] I am hoping I can convince Nala's momma to let her go with me.
What do you guys think?

Here is a great article on fishing with kids. This is exactly how I introduce kids to fishing.

I have bought a few other things for my Nala. One is a Mickey Mouse sleeping bag, so she can take her naps. Mickey Mouse sunglasses to protect her eyes from glare. A Mickey Mouse lunch kit to hold her snacks, drink, and goodies.
This first year I will let her have fun at the lake without emphasizing the fishing part much. I will mainly let her play and observe and learn how to conduct herself at the lake. Then, as she herself decides to try to fish, I will take her through step by step at her own rate of interest.
