Question Boat Rigging: How Critical is it for an Terrova to be mounted centerline?

Ok, ya'll bare with me, I ain't no boatswain. Currently my Crappie Magnum has the trolling motor mounted off set to the starboard side of the mod "v" such that when retracted the motor runs parallel to the gunwale and when extended passes just in front of the starboard most part of the "v". When mounting the Terrova, does it need to be centerline when extended or would maintaining the same position as the current trolling motor cause a problem. Only thing I can see is that it may make the Terrova have to steer a couple of degrees to port to track true to the heading I am trying to stay on. Thoughts?

Oh, and the fun starts tomorrow, will try to remember to take pictures to post as I work my way thru this project on rewiring and mounting the new trolling motor, etc. I think I finally have all the parts I need to do it right.

I don't think I have ever seen one that was dead center when deployed, mines not.

You'll be fine off centered. If runs a little off center just drop the outboard and use it as a rudder to offset. I do this alot on a windy day anyway.

Mine is off center about 4/5 inches. Never had a problem controlling it.

OK, thanks guys, if she don't have to be centered, then may not need the MKA-16 quick release to be able to slide, so one less thing to have to think about. Appreciate the quick come back. Ya'll are great!

Thanks Shipmate, mine is off more than 4/5 inches, more like 20 inches, I mean mine is as far starboard as she can get and still be on the bow. But like everyone has said so far, will just do as I have been doing for the past 15 years with this boat, will trim with the outboard acting as a rudder.

Mine is off center about 12 inches and works fine....I put it that way on purpose and when its stowed its straight with the boat and misses my rod holders.
