Default Good deal? 1648 mod v with 40hp

I am buying a new to me boat that has a 40hp Evinrude tiller with tilt and trim from 93 or so. What's a fair price? The trailer is in immaculate shape as is the boat. It's been kept in a shop for the past few years and maybe used 5 times a year. Water pump and fuel system components have all been replaced recently.

I don't yet, got some more details though, it's a 91 lowe mod v big jon. The paint isn't even flaking anywhere and there is no wood, all the mods he has done like a built in toolbox and a front deck extension have all been done with aluminum diamond plate. I know it's too vague to give any accurate $ amount, just wondered what people thought might be a ballpark value.

I think a 40 is too big and you should swap for my 25hp :D just kidding, I need a bigger motor. I hope if you buy it, its a great one for you!

You can go to Power boat, Sailboat Prices & Personal Watercraft Values to get and idea of what the boat value should be. Hope this helps.

Well she scoots along pretty good, it's mine now. We checked the speed and it runs about 30mph. Only thing I didn't bother to check ahead of time was the capacity plate and it says it's rated for a 35hp. I did a little searching and I can't find anything that says what if any consequence there is for going over the rating. The transom has been modified with the tilt and trim added so I don't know if that matters. Also capacity is 5 people instead of the normal 4 on a 1648. I did find a US coast guard formula for boats and it says length x width x 2 - 90 = HP rating. Mine comes in at 38 which you're allowed to round to the nearest 5 so that would be 40. Hopefully it won't be an issue.

glad you got it and it runs good. Got a tiller arm for my 25 and mounted on my boat. its a small motor for my big boat but will hopefully be enough to cruise and push it up on the trailer

cool deal man glad you were able to get it. I got myself a 16x44 flat bottom this weekend with a 30 johnson and shell scoot about 30 too, definitely not the nicest boat on the water but shes all mine and i'm pretty proud of it. Hope yours brings in tons of fish and good times for ya!
