Mb, Walley is on the board under MrCrappie. Just send him a PM. May take a day or two but he checks here often. He is more than glad to talk to you about any problems with his gear.
I've bought three of these reels. One I use on my jigging pole and the others I bought to use on my spider Riggs. I love the reel except that every once in a while the line will jump between the spool and frame and tangle in the gears. It does it on all three. Have others had this problem.

I read that the problem you describe was with the first run of reels but has been corrected on the current model's. I just got one 3 days ago & only had it out once but no problem like that yet.
I've got one and it does the same thing--frustrating for sure--other than that it works great!
I just bought the 1 and I posted this on my state forum...
Gave the Solo reel & the Bonehead rod a Good trial today. Didn't catch
anything with it so I don't know about the backbone , YET but had a few very
light bites not to mention I could feel every tick of brush. The rod is
definitely a keeper. I'm not overly impressed with the Solo reel though. It's ok
for a "line holder" but 2 important issues I have with the reel. 1. There is no
anti-reverse. I was able to tighten the drag down enough to where it took a
pretty good tug to strip line off but I'm fairly sure that if a 2# + slab was to
grab my bait that I could easily loose the fish fumbling around trying to keep
the line from stripping off the reel.
2. There is no level-wind feature.
This means that the line easily builds up on one side of the spool or the
other.
On the positive side, the reel is very light & easy to handle and
on a light weight rod like the Bonehead, it balances well.
So, Wally, you
coulda done just a little more to the reel & it would've been just about
perfect.
Uhhh, Pepop ... the question was about the Slab Daddy reel, not the Solo
Slab Daddy reel looks like a baitcaster .... Solo looks like a fly reel.
And, Yes MB4850 ...
Biggest complaint about the Slab Daddy (in reviews) is that the line can get past the spool skirting & hang up.

I hate the way the solo reels line in easily enough that you will inadvertently reel your bait in an inch at a time. I wish it would stay put.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.
