Ouch....
My Evinrude mechanic called me today with wonderful news. If I want my 4 stroke 70 to ever run right again, I need a new ECU at the tune of $1,500.
Ouch....
It has lost some parameters involving the O2 sensor. He loads them and they will not stay. Also, the ECU is telling him I have 65,000 hours on the motor (not). As long as the laptop is hooked up the laptop will hold the parameters and it runs great............ I wonder how much for his laptop???
Wow......what model is it ?
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I think its a 99 model with 200 or less hours on it. All fresh water.
She ran like a champ until our first outing this year. I understand its actually made by Suzuki for Evinrude to get them into the 4 stroke market.

BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand Sorry to hear the bad news!
BamaBill, WOW!!! I feel your pain. Boat repairs/parts can hurt really bad when it comes to breakdown's. I'm guessing from your screen name that your from Alabama. I am in Sumiton Alabama so if you need a fishing trip or two till you get repaired my back seat is always open. Superfly.
Thanks Superfly for the offer. I still have my Alumiweld with the old 1978 bulletproof 35 hp Johnson in the stable. I may be sacrificing speed and comfort, but the dependibility of the old SeaHorse is a lifesaver.
BamaBill,
I just sent you a private message, Did you get it?
Roger, yes I just got it. There are some super guys on this site. I'd like to give props to zrdc28 for locating the ECM I need and providing me a link. Also, Superfly offering me a spot in his boat to get me on the water. There are some really good guys on here and these two are stand up fellows.
Thanks guys for making this a great community.
