If the chalk gets erased you might try caulk next time. Also, kayak riggers use plumbers putty with great success, but we typically move our stuff around more than boaters.
I knocked off my transducer and decided to try it inside the hull. I have used it twice and can't really notice a difference on the 200kz frequency. It marks fish, structure, and reads the depth at high speed. Even reads the water temp fairly well after the hull sits in the water for a while. I have a Humminbird 597 ci hd and used silicon chalk to stick the transducer to the hull.

The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
Cool!!
