They are hungry. Brenda and I were looking for the crappie, but found channel cats everywhere. Fun to catch on lite tackle for sure. Landed a few nice ones (5 -6 lb). Fish are fish when it comes to having fun.

What? I just found out that chickens have nuggets, now you are telling me that catfish have nuggets too? Wow! I guess you really do learn something new every day!

I run roadrunners on the bottom of 4 out of 8 rods tight linning and Cats hit them often. A couple weeks ago I caught 10 Crappie keepers alot of little ones and about 20 Cats channels, blues, blacks from 2 to 5 pounds. The cats where I fish hit a plug like a bass.

Filleting out those 5 - 6 pound channels makes a more tasty morsel than crappie IMHO.

I really get a hoot out of working the Kansas Dept of Wildlife fish feeders using my 10 ft B&M rod catching pellet fed channel with some up to 15 pounds. What a rush for sure. Though my boat 10 pound rule is sometimes disconcerting for other fishers where if a 10 lbs or greater is caught the CPR (catch, photograph & release) rule is invoked.

I most of the time just keep some Crappie but my son was with me and he has 3 small children to feed, so we cleaned around 20 Cats and the 10 Crappie for him.
