The Amsoil Full Synthetic HP Injector oil is $24.75/gallon and you can get it for less by getting a trial six month membership for $10 - that will get you 15-20% off depending on what products you are buying.
I finally had to go buy some oil and went by what the dealer said and that was use only OPTIMAX oil. One gallon was $35.00. Is that what you all are using or is there something else out there? The reservior holds 3 gallons and the gas tank holds 48 gallons. This is quite a chunk of money by the time everything is full.

I go to my local marine repair shop and buy it from thier bulk tank for 19.00 a gallon.Just have to bring my own jugs.:D
Hey Hogster,
What oil are they using in bulk. Is it a Optimax oil, or just good for any 2 stroke motors? Wanting to know since this would be a big savings to all of us if all the dealers will do it!

Wow, I'd say you need to find a different dealer to buy your oil from.
I have a opti and I am using the DFI/optimax oil. I also bring my jugs back to get out of the drum. Which run 16 bucks, I think new jugs are only 21. And this price is not becuase I bought my boat from him either. Keep looking.

Centerdriver it is opti oil from Mercury.TAE that is definately a good price.I have checked all of the locals and this is the cheapest i can find. Some of them want as high as 24.00 a gallon.
Optimax oil is a "super" synthetic and should never be mixed with regular 2 cycle oil. Once you use synthetic don't ever go back to regular. I purchased bulk oil from a bulk tank and got a mix of regular and synthetic and it busted a 200 Merc wide open in less than a second. It's really sad when you loose 10k and in about .5 seconds and the dealer refuses to make good on the cause.
Bottomline -- whatever you choose to use, don't mix regular with synthetic!!!

That would suck. I guess boat motors are quite a bit different from cars and trucks when it comes to oil. Good to know, but this is sort of a depressing way to learn about it.Originally Posted by Darryl Morris
