Well, “best” I think is kinda all relative…Sherman is the only place that has a (open water) crappie only tournament. All other crappie only tournaments in NE are during ice!Originally Posted by dwaw
Sherman is one of the few NE reservoirs that have consistent recruitment which typically provides constant year classes. This is mainly due to its water levels being high during crappie spawn and there isn’t much fluctuation in elevation during a typical year. Our reservoirs here in Nebraska are mainly used for irrigation purposes therefore extreme elevation changes in these bodies of water cause havoc on our fisheries. So yeh, it’s a pretty consistent producer of nice sized crappie, I personally can’t say it’s the “best”, but darn good.
