    Default Jordan 4/15, 16, 17, and 18

My friend Al from SC made his annual trip to fish Jordan Lake with Mrs. Monk and I. We long line trolled Bush, Beaver and White Oak Creeks. Caught 150 to 200 fish per day. Started out with 20 lines. So many fish we cut back to 16 lines to eliminate some of the tangles. Most of the time we had 3-5 fish on all the time just waiting to be reeled in. The above facts are the good news.

The bad news is the poor keeper ratio. We averaged about 1 keeper per 20 fish caught. All fish were caught on Kalin's tripple threat grubs and 1/16 oz jig heads. Thursday, we did switch to all 3 inch grubs fro our best day of keeper fish. The fish bit all colors except Bumble Bee; did not get a hit on that color.

Monday 11 Crappie, 5 catfish, 1 Green Carp
    Tuesday 12 Crappie, 2 catfish
Wednesday 12 Crappie, 9 catfish, 1 large red carp (as you would expect, caught on 3 inch Popsicle)
Thursday 22 Crappie, 2 catfish, Green Carp

Fishing this year is disappointing when compared to 2010, when in 5 days we kept 194 Crappie and 59 catfish.

Monk, Thanks for the great report - have this upcoming Friday off and may give it a try. Or go to Weldon for shad/stripers....decisions, decisions. Thanks again, this helps.

I am beginning to wonder if the fish get any larger. I continue to catch more smaller fish and less bigger ones. How big do they get at maturity? So many 9-9.75 inch fish and so few 10 plus inches. How old are these fish? Will we ever see any results of the Wildlife survey done in November 2012?

Monk--I called Jessica with the Wildlife Department this week. I was not able to get her in person. I think she is helping with the situation on Harris. I'll try again next week.
