Flourocarbon line on ultra-light reel

I just bought a spool of Trilene flourocarbon line (6 pound test) for my Quantum ultra-light reel and to say I regretted the decision the 1st cast would be an understatement. I have always spooled the reel with 4-6 pound Trilene XL or Mr Crappie hi-vis. The flourocarbon came off the spool in loops which equated to knots, which meant a big mess. I decided I might have too much line on the spool so I took about 25% off and experienced the exact same result. As soon as I can, the flourocarbon will be heading to the trash can and I'll be going back to Trilene XL low-vis for bluegills and redears. In past experience, usually more expensive is better quality and results. Can't prove it by me in this instance.

Anybody have similar results? Any ideas? The reel was spooled exactly like it always has been and we even tried some Reel Magic on the line. No difference.

flourocarbon is good for leaders, if need be, but not meant to be used as filler for a whole reel. It's too stiff.
