Surface temps on both Hamilton and Greeson are in the low 50s and the crappie are starting to move a bit deeper and school up pretty well. We had a fair morning on Hamilton yesterday using minnows from 13 to 15-feet deep.
Had a day off today so I took my 6-year old and a friend to Greeson to check on the crappie there. We fished from around noon to 3:30, kept 30 and released another 20 or so.
They bit from 13 to 19-feet deep and several of the better ones knocked the hooey out of a jig. Was sure nice to fish for fun for a change and find them willing to pop a jig. Was even nicer to come home and fry up a mess!
Greeson is back up to a real nice level and as usual for this time of year we had the lake to ourselves. We caught a lot of small ones but a lot of the keepers were around 13-inches and nice and fat. Looks like we are going to have some good winter fishing on both lakes this year.
