Drill a hole and use a cotter pin to hold it open or mount an eyebolt on the flapper and tie it to the top of the deck. Just suggestions. Good luck
I was told that you could lock the flapper in the up postion on a riding mower. If this is true, can someone please tell me how...I have been holding it up with a rope tied around it.But that does not let my deck stay even.

Please let me explain...The reason that I do this is to get it in and out of my shed....I have to hold the flapper up to fit through the door....So when I heard you could lock the flapper up....I thought great...That will work out for me if I can find out how....That's the only reason...I mow with the flapper down....:DOriginally Posted by pescatore
C Q, I use a bungie cord that has a hook on each end.

I use a bungee cord also, find one with the desired length so there is no tension on the deck.

Whoops. Thought you wanted to mow a wet area with the chute open
yes my mower has a metal clip thats holds the flap in the up position. I also mow with it up. It keeps grass from clogging up under the mower as bad and also my mower cuts the grass better that way.
