Just a opinion, I like the colored heads. I like to have some contrast in my colors. I have used the non painted heads and caught a lot of fish. I think it is as much a confidence thing as anything else.
I have rarely used colored jigheads, usually I fish the plain lead heads. Am I really missing out or is the color of the soft plastic good enough? I know when things are good they will hit most anything but i'm talking for the average-below average days.

Many years ago fishermen bought a color selector to determine the best color jig to use.....must have been some research to determine color.....so yes, I like colored heads. My favorite are blaze orange, Chartruse, Pink, Red, White, and Black.

Every day you do not fish will be one day less you have to fish
On tough days I think it helps! Do your own experiment.
I've caught lots of fish with the plain lead heads and the super pricey painted with a lifelike eye. Like previously stated, take a few of each and form your own opinion. This is the best way to build confidence for future trips!

I use painted heads, orange, pink, chartruse mainly, but carry black and red also. I have also caught many crappie on plain leadheads before using the painted jigs.
Pink or Chartreuse will definitely put Crappie in your belly.

A guy I fish with,,...allot, uses nothing but plain lead headed/ no color, jigs. I always use a chartreuse, or pink, or white, painted jig head. He always catches just as many and sometimes, (well, most times,,... in case he reads this ),,... more.
