    Looking for a first car for my soon to be brother in law. He has $1700 set aside, preferably a small truck. I've looked at a few on CL but none have panned out

    I have not done this, but is there an auction you can go to? I seem to remember the one I used to live near had 1 day a week where the public can go and bid.

    Check out Motor Auction Group, they do a once a month auction near Franks Truck Shop on Military HWY in Ches.

    They have closed or moved. There is a large one in Va Beach somewhere. Google "Motor Auction Group".
