Looks like a yellow perch. The worse the weather the better they bite. They'll steal your bait real quick.
I know it some kind of perch, but can not place its origin. I have been catching a lot of these buggers the past few years on my brushpiles, especially in colder weather. They seem to co-habitate with the crappie without any problems. They are agressive and fun to catch on ultra light tackle. Just wondering.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Yellow perch or racoon perch, real good eating if big enough to fillet, old timers around here target them winter and early spring. if you can find a school of big ones real fun to catch, if you find a school of little ones while crappie fishing move !

That's definatly a yellow perch. Up this way, in Pa. and Ohio, they are very plentiful in lake erie. We fish for them year round. They get to be over 15"s in the lake. They can be and are caught in as deep as 65 ft water and as shallow as 1 ft water. They will eat any live bait you put in front of them. Spoons, spinners, jigs, cranks, and all larvae. The meat is firm and sweet. My favorite fish to eat. Wish i could get this picture to come up, i'd show you some big ones from Lake Erie.
Warmouth? I can tell you have never fished up North very much. That is a yellow perch and they are good eating too. Might check them for worms though. LOL They are a pretty fish.
