Cool Plastic cup to measure Crappie length?

I saw a plastic creation to measure our Crappie length without taking them off the hook.
Just drop his nose down into the 'creation' while he's still hooked.
His nose hit's the bottom, and the tail better be sticking up above the 9" mark on the back of the creation.

Anybody recognize that thing? By my description? It looks like a Flattened Plastic jug with the back wall extending beyond 9" up to about 16".
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D

I know the device you speak, I think it's the Frabill crappie checker, and they aren't as reliable as the "Golden Rule" sticks we use. Couple of guys were ticketed for short fish from the plastic jobs. I think it was due to the fact that the nose doesn't go all the way into place sometimes and you come up 1/8 to 1/4"short. That's enough for an over-exuberant Mr Green Jeans to help the wife empty the bank account. If there's another that works better I'd like to know about it.

I have 3 of the plastic crappie checkers and 2 golden rules all are between 1/8 and 3/16 " short

I bought some cheap tape mearures and they are in my boat 24/7

    always double check your catch

X2! The crappie checkers and golden rules I have are short also, making the fish appear longer than they are.

I only fish on days of the week that end with
a "Y" ...and then, only if it's raining or not.

Niether of the frabills allow you to leave the fish hooked do they??? The pink Frabill will measure em but the clear one will earn you a ticket in a hurry.

The Frabills both models are not acurate they will not let our southern crappie go all the way to the bottom. The checker that B'nM has out will work though......but the best thing to measure with is a golden rule just like the GW's use....always allow a quarter inch more than your states length limit because they will shrink some after being caught.....even in the live well.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Frabill = Tickets. I know this for a fact on my home Lake. Our local CPO's use the Golden Rule to check fish. So that is what I use. At a $125.00 per fish. You better be right.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

I use Frabile, but I ignore the mark they use. I measured 9.5 inches (limit is 9") with a tape measure planted where the fish's nose hits, and put a thick black sharpie line across the whole thing. Easier to see when in a hurry and the thing is covered in slime. Still, if I don't have good tail past that line I still chunk em back.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
