Default trolling crankbaits on the flats?

How does one go about trolling for crappie on the flats? What depths are best? Once a crappie is caught, is it best to continue trolling or go to the location where the crappie was caught and look for a school or brush pile to fish? Do you look for schools of fish on the depth finder? Do you mainly troll flats where brush piles are located? Are most of the crappie suspended?

Obviously, I've never trolled just for crappie and am interested in learning more about it. Oh, I'm going to search this site and others to read up on it. I was just curious if anyone has some good tips for me to try? Thanks.
