Going to paint some jigheads and was wondering what some of your favorite colors were for catching crappie.

flou. pink and white has always been my go to. One local crappie pro swears that it doesn't matter. All he uses is the old rough unpainted heads from walmart. He is a true pro and always has a livewell full. He always tells me all that wasted money I spend on fancy colors is not worth it... It sure makes me feel more confident though.haha . I am wondering if any body else feels the same way he does...
maddog ... while I don't swear to the idea that color doesn't matter in a jighead, personally I'm one who uses unpainted jigheads about 99% of the time. I don't use the "store bought/mass produced" jigheads, either, preferring to have mine custom made.
The way I look at it is : technically speaking, an unpainted jighead still has a "color" ... either Silver, for the fresh/new ones, or a dark grey, for the older/oxidized ones. When a plastic body is applied to the jighead, its colors are added to and/or contrast with the Silver or Grey of the unpainted head.
For me ... color has an effect, and has its place in the scheme of things ... but, presentation (getting the bait in front of the fish) is the more important factor in that scheme. Fish will bite some of the most beautifully colored artificial creations, and some of the most garish, hideous color combinations that the human mind can come up with ... they just won't bite any of them, if they're not there to see them or you don't get them within their sight range.
