    Default Best Places to Fish

What are your opinions on the best places to catch nice crappie in the U.S. ? I know Dale Hollow used to be good, as well as Rathbun in Iowa, and the Smithland Pool. What are the current hotspots?

I have never fished in Grenada or Enid but I hear they are two of the best places to catch big crappie.
Kentucky Lake is also a hot spot. I think all states have their share of real good places to catch good crappie.
Sorry for you not getting any response on your thread. I'm sure there would have been answers for you in just a few days don't give up on us here. Every one I have ever met on here have been good people.
If you would have put this on the main form instead of a state form i'm sure you would have got good answers.

Sorry to hear that you feel unwelcome. I for one have been out of state and not had the opportunity to respond. so here is my response (very similar to Xtreme's.
I know of a lot of really nice fish coming out of lakes in MS., but with the price of gas doing a number like it is you are probably thinking more towards closer to home.
There are several good crappie lakes here in Illinois just depends a lot on whether you want a lake where you have to contend with pleasure boats or not and whether you are simply fishing from the bank or a boat.

Default Silverside - Here is your answer as posted in the fall 2001 issue of Crappie Magazine

Hey Silverside - had to dig through over 90 + back issues of Crappie Magazine, but I did remember reading this a few years ago. Here it is from Crappie Magazine.
Ten Best Spots in the nation for huge crappie:
    1.Tunica Cutoff - Mississippi
    2.Weiss Lake - Alabama
    3.Larto/Saline Lake Complex - Louisiana
    4.Kentucky/Barkley Lakes - Tennessee/Kentucky
    5.Kirwin Reservoir - Kansas
    6.Lake Monroe - Florida
    7.Red Willow Reservoir - Nebraska
    8.El Capitan Reservoir - California
    9.Wright Patman lake - Texas
    10.Upper Red Lake - Minnesota

My own personal list would also have to include the following:
    1.Lake Osakis - Minnesota
    2.Toledo Bend - Texas/Louisiana
    3.Choke Canyon - Texas
    4.Grenada - Mississippi
    5.Kerr Lake - Virginia/North Carolina

Lakes that are closer to home that I would like to fish sometime include:
    1.Rathbun Lake - Iowa
    2.Truman Lake - Missouri
