I think you increase the drag by stepping on it.
looks like there was a QC issue the way some of the U shaped pieces are bent, or the reel was used for rolling up fence wire, or sumpin anyway. Interesting pic tho.

That's a nice find. Bet in it's day owner was as proud of it as we are or new fangled reels.

If any of you have ever bought cut to legnth wire at lowes, you will see a reel very similar to this... Guess it was pretty good technology.
Does it mount on bottom of the rod like a spinning reel or on top like a baitcaster or does it really matter? Thanks for posting it, very interesting.
