    Default First time yaker!

Im on the water now! wooohooo! Traded all my offshore gear for a awesome crossbow. Than traded the crossbow for a hobie mirage outback. Thats what i call trading up! lol Went to hopewell bringe north of bundicks lake but it was flooded and out of its banks. Plan B. Headed to the little lake i grew up on called Longville lake. The worst part of the day was having to pay $20 to launch a kayak and fish. But i grew up on that lake and know every stump and point so i went after it. This was my first time ever in a kayak and im hooked. Now the report.

Got on the water around 7:30. Pressure was high at 30.13 with a 5-10 mph wind from the north. Water was clean but grassy. All fish where caught on a 2" arkie grub in smoke/silver color and 2" black/chart grub on a road runner jig head. I would peddle up wind and drift while casting into water 8-10' with scattered grass. Fish where scattered as well.

Longville lake is a hidden jewel. Its loaded with black crappie and nice bass. Sadly its privatly owned and the new maneger is down right greedy. $20 to launch and fish and you can only keep 12. Same with bream and chicapin.

That is a nice looking rig and a great catch. I picked up a Hobie Quest from Craigslist and love it.

AWSOME!!!!! It's easy to get hook on kayak fishing. I'm not really sure why but it's all I want to do now. Your gonna love that Outback. I sure do like mine. I have the perfect little tackle bags. One I won on this website. It fits perfect on each side of the seat and serves as an armrest. Maybe Sunday if I get to go fishing I take some pictures of my Outback. I've been rigging on it for over a year now and have it just right for me.

Congratulations on trading up and glad to hear you like your Hobie. My hubby has the Outback too and I have a Revolution.
    Great little boats!

mb4850=That would be great, id love to see what you did to yours. Mine does not have an anchor system and as i found out on my first trip, that is a big must when fishing in the wind! lol Next will be tackel storage. I like your ideal of haveing the bag on the side of your seat. I was dressed warm and turning around to get to my tackle was slightly akward. Im thinking about trying to find something that will fit into the center compartment between my legs.

I cant say enough about the outback. I really feel blessed to have been able to trade for it.
