I use 9' flyrods and I jig, troll, longline, crank and spider rig with them. Sometimes I even cast them. You can't get much more versatile than that.
i am wanting 2 get a rod tht will do it all. some 1 help

any rod will do lots of different styles of fishing, you would just have to figure how to do each style with the same rod. I would think a 7' rod would work, not too long but not too short either. but 7' is my preference, anything longer just seems to make it difficult for me to deal with the length.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
What's your style? Can't do trim with a sledge hammer. All around rods I use are 6'6" and 7', light action or medium with a soft tip. Wally carried a Shakespeare Micro Graphite rod in 7' light action that for $18 would be hard to beat til you figured out what you wanted different. UL reels create a tight coil in the memory of the mono line, and I find this much easier with a 2000 series reel. The drag also works smoother. Loosen the drag when you're done for the day and the drag washers wont compress and last for many years.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
B&M Bucks graphite jig pole in 8ft would be hard to beat. I use mine to bream fish all the time with a spinning reel and you could jig fish with it just fine. Also could use to longline jigs with. Wouldn't have enough backbone to pull cranks with but 3/4 uses aight bad. Cost about $35
No such thing. Get the best you can afford for the way you fish primarily. Add different rods to your arsenal as you can afford them. I have well over 50 and use them all.

Couldn't be said better!
I fish a lot with a loomis SR781 and love it for small jigs and light bites. I also use up to 18ft trolling rods and 5ft shooters and all have a purpose.
If I had to pick one rod for casting and verticle jig fishing jigs and also being able to pull a few cranks it would be something like the new 7ft lews wally marshall lite action.
