Interesting, but he couldn't have taken that footage just 15 years ago. When I sailed on Lake Michigan you were lucky if you could see five feet in front of your face. In 20 feet of water it was black as night. But the zebra mussel changed all that because they are a filter feeders, consuming all the algae and plankton in the lake. Now you can see your anchor on the bottom in 30 feet of water. It's devastated sport fishing.
Now the Asian Carp are knocking on the door, trying to enter the lake from the Chicago River. If they get in the lake there won't be any sport fishing...unless you like Asian Carp, of course.
Great video. I also like the one about the Maumee river walleye run. Looks like combat fishing at it's finest.
ah my favorite lake to be at....cool vid

Unfortunately, they are already here and unless something can be done that won't have a negative impact on game fish, fishing could be going downhill. We're already hearing reports of 10 lbers jumping in the boat when traveling at about 10 mph. Seems they are more apt to do it at slower speeds.
We've had serious scares in the past and most of them have come and gone but this one may be here to stay. Let's hope we have overreacted here too but I'm not convinced. Check Asian Carp in our search engine, more than a few opinions on that one.
