I will only keep fish that are caught with the water temps in the low 50s or colder. And we will fish till the ice is to thick to drive thru.
And yes, we still have a skier or 2 and a few jet skies buzzing us with it that cold.

I fish 12 months a year, but have a big problem catching 'em in cold water. I fish the Alabama River and do ok in the hottest of weather; but, come winter it is not unusual for me to get skunked. Believe me, I'm pretty sure I've tried all methods and depths of water. I do agree that there are much fewer boats, sometimes none, and it is nice and quiet. I'll keep trying.

LOL canepole.... can't knock a turtle off a log at 20 feet anymore? Got my folgers red can in the boat too.

Hate hot weather fishing.... love cool / cold weather...whether in a boat or walking on water.

I have to admit, I just like going to the lake and if I never caught a fish, I would still go. Therapeutic. However, I'm a big fan of the cooler months. The change of season to the cooler weather just makes me happy inside. After summer rather than before summer seems to have more stable weather, but springtime brings those fatter fish pre-spawn. After a bout with pneumonia a few short years back, those hard winter days are for coffee and recliner. But give me a short break in the weather and I'm there.
