Default Monroe this morning - Friday the 30th

I haven't been here for so long thought I might get rejected. Trudy and I managed to get on the lake at 7:30 and it was lovely. Started at the south end of the old power plant channel and headed north. Fish started to bite right away. 7 feet of water with fish showing at 4 to 5 feet - dropped jig down to 3 feet - no minnows - water 83 degrees. They were little at about 6 to 8 inches and liked brown/yellow curly tail and red/yellow curly tail. Two small gar stopped by for a bite also. Caught 5 little guys and the two gar and then moved up to the 'slow speed' marker at the north end of the channel. Caught 6 in about 15 minutes - four of them were keepers at 11-12 inches. But today everybody went back into the lake for another day. By 9:30 it was getting hot so bugged out and went home.
Just a note - Trudy caught 10 crappie and the two gar at the back of the boat with 4 Zebcos out - I caught one up front with 4 Wally Marshall Crappie Thunder out same color jigs - go figure. Maybe should just use a stick.
Anyway, good to be back on the water and was a good day. Looking forward to this year's first slabfest.

WOW! Good to hear from you. The rumor was that Trudy had buried you in that new landscape somewhere. Maybe you can come out and play Sunday morning too?

I think it's going to be a little breezy on the lake tomorrow - plus tomorrow is the 3rd race of the Chase at Dover - can't miss NASCAR!
I'll catch up with you next week though.

Hi Don and Trudy, how you guys doing ?????
Finally, is that time of year again, I been waiting all summer..........
I miss-judged the weather this weekend, decided not to go but weather improved after I cancelled
    and had made different plans.
Am going to try and get up there (Monroe) next Sat/or/Sun, weather depending ...........
Trying to talk that old codger Speckanator into taking me fishing with him.
Feels good to be making fishing trip plans again (fresh water).
    Tight Lines .......
