Welcome aboard from here in South Carolina. The guys on here are always willing to give advice to all. I know what you mean about having to have a big enough boat. I have a place in northeast Michigan on Lake Huron. Not good lakes for small boats!!
I have been a member viewing for a while but never posted. I have gained a lot of good info here. I live in S.W. MI area. I have been fishing since as young as I can remember. Mainly sunfish, perch and catfish. I have owned two boats and just bought a 19 foot starcraft superfisherman. I know thats a big heffer, but I needed a boat for big MI lakes yet small enough to get into the smaller lakes too! This is the first year I got into crappie. Growing up we fished from shore with worms just sunfish, so for the longest I had never heard of them. I never tried jigs or live minnows till now. i regret that I am just now learning more about crappie, but I am having a blast. Nothing like reeling one in and seeing the shiny black and silver coming at you. I owe big thanks here, keep up the good work but remember there is no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to helping a fellow angler!

To make life enjoyable, you must have crappie days.
Glad to have you here! Great place to learn more about this type of fishing!

glad to have you, welcome to the family
Welcome to the newbie, from another newbie.
The people on this forum are great with advice and recommendations. Before joining Crappie.com I'd spent about $50 on fishing gear. Now I'm up over $500:D
But as I told my wife: good fish costs $8 per pound; a good-size crappie yields 1/3 pound; I'll break even at 187 crappie and after that it's all profit!
