    Default Crappie Beds?

I am clearing out my hunting lease for some new food plots. I have alot of cedars oaks and all other sorts of trees. I am planning on downing alot of those cedars but are they the best for beds? I heard willows work really nicely as do fruit tree's anyone have some advice? I want millions of fish around my secret new honey hole. Thanks in andvance.

Cedars will work fine. I like to trim up the smaer branches and just leave the 1/2" or bigger ones. I think it gives them a little more room and make them a little easier to fish with out getting hung up. I also like for them to be dead before sinking. Always heard they were better and would attract fish faster than fresh cut live trees. Willow will do the trick for a while. But not last as long.

I helped out putting some additional brush piles in at Smithville a couple of weeks ago. The word from the pros is to avoid walnut trees. I don't recall you saying you were going to use any, but apparently there is some chemical in them that actually repels fish. That just doesn't fly.

    Good luck!

I don't think you can beat cedar trees.....they last for a long, long time and the fish really seem to love them.

Cedars are one of my least favorite but if you trim them up dead or green they will work, persimmon, fruit and oak are my favorites in that order.
