Phone service in Joplin is spotty at best and it is very difficult to make or receive a call. There is no Internet service and I am sending this from my phone. I can't even begin to explain how bad it is for so many people. It is going to take a long time for Joplin to recover from this. It is amazing to see the number of emergency vehicles coming in to help from all over the state.

I do appreciate the phone calls and apologize for not being able to call back. It was a tough day and will continue for some time. Please keep all the people, emergency crews and rescue workers in your prayers they really need it right now.

I have several friends from other depts. who have been in the area since Sunday night and the stories of destruction are just unimaginable. They truly are doing a fantastic job under very difficult circumstances down there and deserve our very best thoughts and prayers. Our dept. is currently on standby to send an engine crew sometime Fri., Sat. or Sun.
