Saltine crackers work, too.
Just read an article where a man used a quartered onion & bread in his minnow trap. I have used bread & have heard dog food will work. What is your favorite bait in your minnow traps?
Saltine crackers work, too.
I think I got one...
I have never used one and wonder how well they work. Plus I dont often see minnows around.
"Some days im Basstastic other days im crapptacular"
I worked as a guide in northern Maine in my younger days. I baited my trap with home made bread and caught shiners. They would only go in the trap at night. Then they put smelts in the lake and they(trout) would only hit a smelt after that.
Here in Tn...Most every pond has minnows I have a small pond that I keep stocked with minnows we keep 2 traps in them year round....Cornbread is what we use
I dont mind fishin in the RAIN!!! My boat LEAKS anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!
my favorite minnow trap bait is absolutely nothing.
have tried crackers and bread, both seemed to work good and have caught minnows with nothing in the trap when the water is cool. Best tip I have is when the water is warm in the dog days of summer try to leave an end of the trap slightly out of the water, close to the bank and try sugar cookies in the trap...........not kidding.
My wife's biscuit's they'll outlast the trap underwater.
