I keep deep woods off in the boat for me. Actually have several types/strengths for most levels of buggy days

    Talking Insect control ....

Bugs don't usually bother me, but they do seem to take a liking to a couple of fishing buddies of mine :p ... LOL !! I'm referring to "biting" bugs, though ... like mosquitos, & such.

Here's a couple of things to consider :

Don't wear aftershave or colonge/perfume. Some scents attract insects. "Flowery scented" washing/drying products can also attract them.
Sprays that contain DEET are the most effective repellants ... but will usually only repel some biting insects. "Stupid" bugs, as I call them, don't seem to be repelled by anything ... and they tend to run in swarms ... so the best defense against them is to avoid the area they're congregating in, or hope for a sustained breeze. :D
Thermacell's have been given good reviews on this site, too.

Day time I use something like Deep Woods with Deet, but at night I use a Thermocell and have been out when just out of reach the bugs were so thick you couldn't breath if you got your head over where they are, but sitting by that Thermocell no bugs, but still can see them just out of reach.

Skeeters are bad enough, but the biting flies we have here are just not bearable if you don't use something. You can't seem to catch up with them to kill them, but as fast as heck they can bite the heck out of ya!
