    Default newbie questions

I went on my first crappie only outing last saturday at table rock. I had a pretty good outing with white and chart grubs in the shallows until the wind picked up. I had a few questions pop up in my head:
when you get hung up in brush you've been catching fish out of is it better to keep the boat away and break off or is ok to move in and try to get it free? when vertically jigging trees do you try to keep the boats shadow of the cover?
    thanks,

First off, nice mess and welcome to the board. Second, if I'm catching fish off cover and get hung, I try not to disturb the cover as much as possible until the bite slows. Even if it means picking up a second pole and fish with it while leaving the first one hung. I've even had crappie take my jig off of a stump before.
Yes, the boat shadow will turn the bite off as fast as trolling motor prop wash.

Sometimes it dosn't matter what you do, but when the bite is tough, do all you can do to not make it worse. I usually don't fish clear enough water to worry about the boat being positioned over your fish. Sometimes just shaking the bushes while your breaking off will send them scattering for a while. They will usually return when the comotion subsides. From the looks of your catch, you don't need much help. Welcome aboard, plenty of good info on this board.
