Default Humminbird platinum ID portable Help cp

I just came into this portable ff that was use for ice fishing. it has two 6 volt batteries that I'm told is equal to 12 volts. Has anybody rewired this to operate off of a 12 volt trolling motor battery. if so was it a good experence of Bad one. canePole you out there

Without knowing the unit I would suspect the two 6V batteries are what makes it "portable". It wouldn't really be portable if you had to lug a regular size 12V battery around with it. It shouldn't be any problem running it off the TM battery. Just be sure to attach to the correct spot on the depth finder. In other words connect the 12V battery to where the output of the two 6V batteries goes. Hope this makes sense.

It is easily switched from a portable unit to mounting in the boat. The 2- 6 volt battery pack is just that a battery pack. I used it for ice fishing in the winter time and then would put the unit on a 2 man fiberglass boat, the rest of the time. I run the ff off of the regular 12 volt battery on the boat. EB
