live and learn lol thats 1 lesson that wont be forgotten
Went fishing about 9:30 a.m. today on Alabama River near Millbrook. As I readied my boat I noticed it was getting warmer and with full sunshine knew it would get to the mid 50s as forecast. So, I left my nice, warm, fluffy, coveralls at home. Now, when I fish, I fish. Did I ever stop to think that later in the afternoon it would not be so warm? Nah. It was cold for several hours before dark. I wa c-o-l-d. Dumb.
Oh, six crappie, two bass. Not much size to the rappie. Threw the green carp back.
GET THE NET HAROLD, GET THE NET!!

After 4PM it starts getting cold again. Glad you survived though.:p
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
LOL, it doesn't take long to start paying for mistakes.:D Congrats on the catch.

I was setting up a while back and a friend asked if he could help by dropping me in. I was so excited I said sure, hopped in the boat and began motoring away from the ramp. Only to turn right around and put on the bibs and coat and hat I had left in the car. I'm so dumb sometimes.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Learned in the military, ALWAYS overdress a little; if you have too much on and it`s hot, just take something (appropriate!) off; on the other hand if you underdress and you start feeling cold...YOU ARE SCREWED! And COLD! And generally very uncomfortable, too!
I try and keep an old set of coveralls in a plastic bag in the boat all the time just for cases like this. I also keep a can of beene-weenes just in case the fish are biting good and i didn't bring enough to eat, wasn't going to stay that long. Another thing is keep a first aid kit you can make your own or get them as cheap as a dollar. But a band aid may save a fishing trip or at least keep the carpet cleaner. I have the dollar ones in all my cars and it has came in handy several times. Cub48
I've loaded everyone's fishing poles but mine.
I've unloaded the boat to find the boat key was at home.
I've forgot the plug and flooded the boat multiple times.
I've gone camping without the tent.
and the list goes on...
At these times, I look at me self and say "self, you are stupid."
lol. :o
well at least you were cold with a mess of fish, and that warm feeling of crappie filets and taters going down is something to look forward to.
well all do it we do not always tell on our selves.
Man lucky you weren't up here in the Northeast!!!!!!!!!!!! You'd have major frostbite, even the snowmobilers aren't riding due to the cold.
